Initial Consultation & Master Plan. The initial consultation and master plan. In May
2005 a steering group known as the Nant y Gollen Environmental Project
commissioned Community Design Gwent to complete a master plan for the
restoration of the At a
public meeting held in September 2005 the following vision for the project
was accepted: To secure the long term
restoration of the American Gardens in partnership with the local community
and landowner to provide a local, regional and potentially national resource
of great heritage. The way
forward identified by this study was: ·
The development
of a Local Interpretation Plan This plan was developed in 2007 is
available for you to view. ·
A programme of work to
secure and improve the site boundaries with particular emphasis on The
Woodlands A partnership continues with Communities
First, the Operational Services Team of Torfaen County Borough Council, Bron
Afon Housing Association, Pontypool Park Estates and local people to
alleviate some of the problems associated with fly tipping and anti social
behaviour at the back of the Woodlands (the eastern boundary of the On the western boundary a project has
begun to restore the dry stone wall through a series of introductory dry stone
walling courses for local people. The Public Right of Way that runs along
this boundary is now passable and continues to be maintained. ·
The development of an
agreed brief for the commissioning of a full feasibility study The Project worked with various agencies
to secure funding and commission various studies such as the ecological
survey, rhododendron survey and tree condition survey and inventory of
species. All these pieces of work were recommended as a route to the
development of a brief for a full feasibility study. ·
The commissioning of the
full feasibility study This has now been completed and is
